sorry chris; i was presuming the thread was alluding to what most would refer to as "proper" karting; if not, where do you draw the line? seaside karting as administered by the showman's guild? i established europe's first purpose built indoor karting centre in 1992, but would never purport it to represent anything other than an illusion of "proper"racing, although the corporate customers certainly did and no harm in that; however i believe this forum to be on an enthusiasts site, one of which i doubt very few indoor karters are even aware.

the overall TOTAL is not so much the issue as perhaps the quality; at the 1st Silverstone Kart GP in 1978, 60 howling 70 bhp 250 twins took to the grid for the superkart final; in 1985, the 100cc national british championships (one weekend where at the outcome we knew who was champion; now THOSE meetings had atmosphere) went to an "E" final; its not purely nostalgia, but looking at the success of the past can help the future (?)

sounds great that you too down there are running karts with proper throttle response, some grunt and sound and smell right too! Senna would approve..............
