Returning to the point:
1) Yes, it's a personal choice at the moment
2) Nobody has collected the data or commissioned research (unlike other sports, eg rugby union, which showed that neck injuries in tackles by back row forwards were generally as frequent and severe as those in scrums by the front row) to investigate the pro's and con's of neck support
3) I understand that neck injuries in karting (MSA, IKR, arrive & drive or whatever) are mercifully rare, so limited there is limited UK data available
4) A relatively rare neck injury can still be catastrophic.
5) Catastrophic injuries can either be anticipated and mitigated by commissioning research (as other sports have done) or considered with hindsight after the event
6) It's clear that the MSA prefers to keep its fingers crossed and hope one never happens (or at least hope that they can't be blamed for it when it does)
7) Whether this is a sufficiently "hot topic" for the BKDA to press for depends on the views of its members, doesn't it (rather than my view or any other individual)?
8) Whether the BKDA wants to take advantage of the ABkC move towards allowing driver representation at its meetings is another point entirely!
