There will be no advantage with the X2 transponder even if the signal is "more powerful." The receiver does not trigger when it first "sees" a signal. It triggers after it has seen the signal come and go and works out the "average" point of the signal. Thus strong or weak signal will give the same time. The 160 transponders are not all the same, even the old style ones have at least three different designs of electronics inside and transmit at different levels. However if MSA approve these I think they will have to approve telemetry, as the X2 can also send data about the kart. If it is approved I think MSA will have to change the rules so all data loggers can also transmit data live to track side. The KC-t (www.KC-t.biz) will be able to do this with a few small software mods, my guess is Alfano & MyChron will also be able if allowed.
