I disagree on the Mychron 5 battery. Initially in the first month or 2 after release there was a firmware bug that caused battery drain, but this has been fixed for a long time now. Simply update the firmware with the Racestudio3 software.
I get 2 days out of the mychron 5. If you have a 12v onboard battery, max, x30 etc buy an external power lead and power & cahrge it from that instead. I asked LAPTA to make me one and it didn't cost much. On my max I plug it into the charging port on the loom, neat and simple.

Some of the early chargers can be a bit sensitive to battery position on the cahrger. If you knock it it can stop charging but I've been told this has improved with later production.

The software from AIM is really good once you get past the initial learning curve of how it work, but there are some really helpful videos on youtube from AIM usa
