Hi Paul... I concur with Pogz.
My 12 year old son has started minimax karting in the last month, and enjoys it very much. He's still some 6 secs off the lap record for the track and does hold up the faster kids from time to time. I've not been approached by other dads, but do get the odd look.
There are some dads at the track that think they're running Team McLaren etc, but there are also some really nice people there too that take time to help you get the most from your kart.
I tell my son to concentrate on whats he's doing and go at a pace he's comfortable with and not to feel he has to keep up, staying on his racing line and watch for the faster kids passing him.
There's a lot to get to grips with when your starting out, engine setup, chassis setup etc. I think these dads could have been a little more tactful and sympathetic!
I'd find a setup for the dry and a setup for the wet and stick with those until your lads start to get a bit faster, which won't be long!
My son enjoys driving in the pouring rain more than in the dry so I'd not be put off with a little bad weather either.
May you have a more pleasant experience on your next outing! Jim
