You are right Nigel, I can imagine those sharp kerbs everywhere, and it does teach the drivers to stay on the black stuff. I do however think that at Dunks that fact happens because we've got such a wide track, in other places if you did add steep kerbs all of a sudden you'll effectively kill overtaking as the race line will become so much narrower!
Take Lydd for example, fantastic track, takes as much of the kerb as you want through the two chicanes and the skill there is to get the right line "over" the kerbs. Very tricky to learn but none the less the addition of the kerbs in the race line doesn't detract from the enjoyment!
Nor does the fantastic humpback bridge! Whoever thought of that was a genius! No other track in the country has airborne action! And that takes getting right as well!
So what I'm saying is that kerbs or not, bridges or not every track has its own attraction.
