James, the V2 helmet that was mentioned earlier looks fantastic, is cheep and meets all MSA regulations, bt check the size, i think they only go to an XS, my boy is 8 and an XS is still too big for him, he needs to wear a thick balaclava with his helmet. Sparco Rookie suit is a good entry level suit, would recoment getting a level 2 suit, OMP pilota (i think) is about �60, but most prices are going up due to the euro beion strong.
but please get him rib protector and neck brace. you might want to check ebay or pitbay for someone selling second hand kit, i wouldnt buy a second hand helmet though. there is a guy sells omp gear on ebay �13 for gloves �30 for boots, might ba a good place to start looking.
