Whoops, yeah you're right about ZW3 sorry, I accidentally retyped the UTS again. The yield strength of ZW3 is 215-225 MPa, which sits in the range of the 6061 albeit a bit on the lower end. I would have thought that moving the yield closer to the UTS would be a good thing? Because once yielding occurs then the wheel is about as useful as a broken one? As you said though, really the strengths do not matter as long as they are adequate, a lighter wheel is always better, and if that means that some strength is lost and it still doesn't fail, then no problem. They do not need extra strength as it serves no extra purpose. Fracture toughness and impact strength are extremely useful with much higher values though.
