Yes of course, I'm in no way trying to say that NJB or anyone else *should* be considering the theory. What I am trying to say is that it's no harm for people to do so.
From my experience in the past of karting, I am naturally sceptical of setup advice given to me by others, regardless of their own success. I have tried things that winning teams have told me, and needless to say they were way off the mark and I later found out that they weren't even doing what they told me to do. I am always more convinced by someone who can say why their advice is sound.
For what it's worth I think NJB is absolutely right in what he's said. But if I knew less about the workings of wheels and materials, then I don't know if I would be as inclined to believe him, and as a result I don't know if I would take his advice. That's why I think it is so difficult to give and receive advice, especially on this forum.
