Given the caliper bracket fixes to through two of the top and bottom bearing carrier holes, I half expected to find (on a 2nd hand set of carriers) that these 2 holes had been clearance drilled for an M8 bolt, but none of them have.
Clearly you cant effectively join 2 parts, which are both threaded, together under a decent clamping force unless the threads were machined with both parts in situe as one.
So, is it normal practice to drill a clearance hole in the bearing caliper so you're clamping the disc protector bracket, chassis and bearing carrier between the caliper carrier and the bolt head?
Perhaps the caliper bracket is installed without the axle in place and then spun towards the carrier (down the thread) to tighten it into place? But that'll only work for one bolt and there are 2.
Or am I missing something? (apart from the fact I should move to a Kelgate or KC setup).
Thanks Chris
