The Gold Book (page 6 - A.1.3.6) says the front fairing must conform to MSA Yearbook regulations with a centrally located vertical surface, minimum of 250mm x 70mm, or be an approved design specifically permitted by the MSA. The Zip nose cone will be covered by the `approved design' If you look at the Zip nose cone the main front section is flatter than the outer sections (admittedly not flat) but even if that section was changed to be flat, the outer parts could still be curved and prove just as likely to cause `flipping'. How many of the incidents were full head-on? I looked at an old Zip Blade nose cpone and the flat section was wider than the minimum stipulated - it seems to be flat for the whole of the front of the kart. Maybe even the official flat section is not wide enough.
