Another Vote for club100
It's the perfect place to start and to develop your skills. You can always move on to owner driver racing later.
I'm speaking as someone who at 19 faced the same question as you. I took the Club100 route and the experience and racecraft I developed there is priceless. That was 12 years ago ... I now race my own kart, but if I could do it again over - I would still opt to start in club100.
Itpro speaks as someone who clearly hasn't raced in club100 recently. The karts are exceptionally close for an arrive an drive series (trying to maintain your own kart to perform within 2-3 tenths of the best as a newbie is near impossible, and as mentioned above your driving will account for full seconds off the ultimate pace inititally anyway). It's also a very competetive series with a range of driving abilitys from guys capable of running at the front of any top british karting series all the way through to people having their first ever go in a kart!) There is always someone to race against - nothing beats if for developing racecraft.
If you decide owner driver karting is for you after a few club100 races then there is still nothing to stop you doing that!
