What Chris' point does highlight is a major issue with all KF classes in the UK.
Super 1 has a large(ish) KF3 grid as the drivers are competing for the MSA British Junior Karting title but it does appear that an increasing number can't/won't do both S1 and FKS.
KF2 and SKF numbers have been poor in S1 this year even though in SKF drivers are competing for the honour of being BRITISH KARTING CHAMPION.
I would say that something radical needs to be done to make the KF classes a more realistic option for many drivers.
At the moment we in the UK are blessed to have an abundance of talent in KF2 and KF3 on the British, European and World scene but with a maximum of 25/30 KF3 competitors in the whole country and 10/15 in KF2 I fear that that situation won't last.
Drivers do need to compete regularly against strong grids in their home country to give them the tools to then go on and tackle the best in the rest of the world.
It is no coincidence that the strong grids we see in the Max classes in the UK are the driving force behind British drivers' current good form in the Rotax Euro Challenge
