As you are allowed any tyre and currently have DDM's fitted can we assume you are running a gearbox kart? If so read on, if not ignore me.
I run an Anderson kart, my team mates run Cyclone and F1 karts, I've found that the best tyre for the anderson is the 5 inch Dunlop DCH, the guy in the cyclone swears by 6 inch Maxxis wheres I couldnt get the kart to turn in on them and the F1 guy prefers the 5 inch maxxis. I tried the DDM's on my kart but found them too grippy and they induced some mad hopping on the power out of corners (we all run short circuit by the way). In short, I dont think there is a 'best' tyre, its all down to how you drive, what kart you have (as they have been developed based on different makes of tyres) and a lot of experimentation. Most of the guys in our club however seem to use the Dunlop DCH so I would say that would be a pretty safe bet to start on.
