"4 strokes ARE good....... but they are over complex, slow and H*E*A*V*Y! As such, they are AGAINST the SPIRIT that DRIVES karting"
Modern 4-stroke: 250cc 35bhp 13,000rpm 15kg faster than the top rotax in Super 1 around Buckmore Park (could look up other circuits but not bothered)
SO!!!
They are NOT heavier than a rotax or kf, only 100cc. In race trim we run to around 165-170kg
They are NOT slow, if we ran front brakes we could compare times to a KF2 but we dont, so walk all over rotax's
Complexity yes i'll give you that one, we have two camshafts and 4 valves extra over 2-strokes but we dont have powervalves
If we were allowed to run our fuel injection systems rather than carbs modern 4-strokes easily put out over 40bhp reliably.
Rebuild costs: 500 once a year and thats only if you want to. Will get two seasons out of a sealed engine.
