As a TKM newbie i'm trying to get my head around the difference in performance between one kart and another.
I understand that the karts setup, and tyres etc can make a huge difference when it comes to cornering. But with the exception of all up weight and engine fiching I can't work out why some guys are much fasters than others in a straight line.
For example the other day I attended my first MSA race meeting and watched some excellent Junior TKM racing. Now I'm not for one minute suggesting anything untoward but the winner was clearly faster on the straight than those running in 2nd to 5th place out of a field of approximately 12. Ending up with a winning margin of 5+ Seconds on a 12 lap race.
I'm positive that everything was within regulations as it was an MSA meeting, so I don't want to hear C word. What I would appreciate is insight into why he was visibly faster in a straight line that day.
