IKR is the terminology used to describe this type of racing. It's a term used by karters, invented by the karters (not a business).
Indi Kart Racing is the slang term used for this type of racing but from a business point of view only Hooton Park can use that name for their meetings as they are the ones who came up with the name.
With IKR the karters came up with the name via a debate about it and as such the name can be used by any commercial operation but they cannot claim to own the name.
So if I owned a track I could call it Chris' IKR Northern Championship but I could not call it Chris' IndiKart Northern Championship. Just in the same way that I cannot open a shop and call it Chris' Tesco's Express, or I could call it that but I might have a bit of ear ache over it and my bank balance could be a lot lower than it is now : )
Chris.
