Are you sure the lad concerned didn't just misunderstand the start procedure? My lad has twice been spoken to for start infringements - both times for crossing the tramlines before the start line (at one circuit the start procedure had changed immediately prior to him getting it wrong). It's not that he's dirty nor stupid but he's a novice and they all make mistakes. I'm certain he will learn from those mistakes. I've seen novices overtaking on the rolling up lap before as well. Suppose the coc had seen the incident, what would be an appropriate response? In our case no damage was done in either case so the coc had a word with him in parc ferme and it was dealt with fairly easily. In your case damage was done and it ruined your weekend - does this necessarily relate to the start line incident or should it be treated as a separate incident? I don't envy the officials job at all and I wouldn't expect them to see everything and I've lost count how many times I've been looking in roughly the right direction and totally missed an incident. Did you protest?
