my son and I used our newly purchsed mychron 3 at Shennington this Saturday for practice. At the moment I'm not to bothered about collecting the data, my lad just wants to see his lap times really. I set the mychron up for 2 splits and minimum obscuring time (3 second I think)
First question, the manual is a little disingenuous about obscuring time set-up for track with splits and setting it to 3 seconds worked just fine is that right?.
I had a few problems though. As you know at shenny paractice is done from the dummy grid and then off into the scrutineering area, this means the mychron starts timing as soon as it goes over the first strip so the lap times are taken from there and back to there. On the last lap they come off before having gone over this strip and thus completing the timing of the lap. This incomplete lap threw a couple of the lap times off for the next session. Is there any way of telling the mychron that the session has finished, there isn't in the manual and there is not obvious way in the menu, maybe having a magnet in my pocket to artificially give it another strip? Also there seems to be no way of telling it to ignore the first two strips so that it starts timing from the start finish strip. Is this a case of the driver having to turn it on them selves after the last strip but before the start finish one? He's not up to that yet....
Many thanks for any advice given, Are other tracks like this with thier strips and dummy grid positions?
Thnaks
