That was the original idea but in the pre CNC barrel days there was a significant differrence between engines. The CNC engines are supposed to be closer to each other but I have heard that some of the earlier ones are better than others. They are also generally better than the pre CNC engines.
Talko built the CNC engines a bit better than average so everyone who wanted to be competeitive had to go out and buy a new engine.
We have raced TKM for 22 years and been through a lot of engines in that time. We know some engines are better than others even when rebuilt by the same tuners. Why do you think people rent engines from Dave Lichfield and Flex etc? We rented one from Flex a few years ago that was worth about 0.5 seconds a lap. Like most TKM racers we can't really afford to do that but a lot of people do.
And Chris-TKM I know of some engines last year that sold for considerably more than the 750 you mentioned.
I am with Banzai Boy on this one, let's have more parity not less. Let the barrels and pistons be modified to meet the fiche just as cylinder heads are.
