Simon s. yes I agree the parents can ask for there child to run of the back but they don't because they don't want there child having the p-ss ripped out of him because he is on red and yellow plates choosing to start from the back. I personally did 10 meetings with my son as a novice at bayford and ran in clubman to start with for him to gain experience with slightly slower drivers. Then we moved on to red and yellows. Personally I felt it was better for him to slowly be fed into racing with the quicker drivers. I just feel some parents rush to get them 5 signatures then bang straight onto red and yellows the kid gets thrown in the deep end, then gets bashed off by the quick drivers getting frustrated by a slower driver in the way. I was saying surely it would be better if there was either a set period of time say 3 months or a criteria say at your local track.where there is a benchmark time u have to achieve to come of your novice plates.
