I was racing 177M at Kimbolton and no I am not a big team or in an awning however I love my racing and think that Kimbolton really try to do a proffesional job.
During the heats I was turned round at the first corner and have been a number of times with the only apparent action being a black and white warning. At one meeting (after having been punted off again) I even asked if the club owned a black flag and if not I would cuffing but them one (I was a little het up at the time I admit)
On sunday aftet 5 laps I was battling with somebody and went for a gap in to turn 1 that was always going to close, contact was made and unfortunately the other guy ended up backwards in to the tyres (Both drivers and karts unhurt!) Next time round I was black flagged (1st one in 15 years of racing I might add!) Even the guy I had the altercation with agreed that both of us had been punted off in a very similar way and no action had been taken.
Split feelings really. On one hand pleased that Kimbolton does have large enough ones to black flag people but annoyed that other people that had done the same didn't have ther same penalty.
I fully support HKRC in the use of the black flag and will stand with them if any other drivers complain at the penalty handed out.
I also think the idae of moving the start closer to turn 1 would be much better as a lower speed in to that turn would be apparent and also when you have a big field they would at least be in a straight line rather then being halfway round Kimbolton Corner when the front row set off.
I will be going back next month as I want to show my support for HKRC with perhaps a trip to specsavers in between!
