Agree with lilsmartie about the Stilo but they don't go down to a small enough size for my 7 year old's head. The Koden may be good value at 200, but you get more helmet than you are expecting. For me the decision was between the Arai and Bell, and would have been happy with either. The Bell fitted well, was lighter, so decision made. However, I think the Arai helmet has a higher quality lining and will not wear out so quickly.
Off topic, but on the subject of safety, my son uses a Leatt Brace too which seems to be the preferred option where he races and neck braces are mandatory.
The more I watch him use it, the more I think that neck braces and foam supports are likely to create more problems than they prevent. With the Leatt Brace, I feel that while it will restrict his head moving into an extreme position, his neck will instead be stretched. Im not a doctor so I do not know if this is a better situation than holding his neck relatively straight, but as a layman it does not seem a great outcome. I recall reading that Sid Watkins once cautioned on the use of neck supports for karting.
On balance I think that high back seats such as used in the German child classes seem a better solution to protect young children than a neck brace, but I know there is a lot of resistance to using them.
