I was waiting for the "Buy a Really Expensive Lid" comment to arrive and it didn't take long :oD
If a helmet is accredited to the correct SNELL rating as mandated by the Blue Book, then it has passed all the necessary tests. The only difference you will find is in finish and fitting.
In my opinion, the second of those is the most important. There are several types of helmet that I simply can't wear due to the helmet shape being the wrong type for my head. A Bell feels great, so does a budget Koden, both are at opposite sides of the money spectrum. On the other hand, I've tried a Stilo and can't get one to fit properly whatever size.
So in short, try on as many as you can, and choose one that fits correctly and is SNELL accredited if you're running MSA.
