You COULD specify a tyre for (let's say) TKM but it would be BETTER to get some agreement going with other local kart tracks, Kim, Buckmore (?) etc.. That would then 'localise' your 'rules'.
Regardless of what Tal-Ko (for example) think, it is NOT written in stone that THEY specify the tyres to be used. Simply because they CLAIM it to be a commercial championship doesn't make it so! Obviously, if they RUN the race, then THEY can 'specify' but that only seesm to be the case for the Festival and (possibly) the Super 1. hey do NOT run HKC and HKRC races!
The ABkC have ABDICATED their abilities to SET the tyres and I cannot think of single reason why they SHOULD have done so!
Reclaim karting for the clubs and drivers! Let US specify a tyre for TKM and another for Rotax for local meetings (as opposed to National meetings)!
Damn it, karting belongs to US and NOT to Tal-Ko, Rotax/JAG, the MSA, ABkC or ANYBODY ELSE! Once we've done it for Tyres, we can do it for clutches, un-marked drive sprockets (TKM) and anything ELSE where WE chose to make the rules! And doing THAT W*O*U*L*D reduce the costs!
Ahhhhh..... delicious pipe-dreams! Most people simply don't have the B*LLS to DO it! And that means that the number of karters will decline and the rest of us/you WILL pay for that priviledge!
