Why be surprised that higher pressures warm up FASTER!
The 'agreed wisdom' (i.e., something which we suspect but have ZERO 'proof' of!) is that the high the pressure, the mor ehte tyre bulges. The more it bulges, the less of the contact patch touches the track. Skinny tyres heat up faster than fat tyres and thus you high pressure tyre is behaving EXACTLY like a skinny tyre.
There is a corollary (nasty twist); a tyre that warms up quickly is also likely to arrive at OVER heating earlier, too. It's the classic compromise!
New tyres WILL make a difference but it only lasts for a very short while (5 to 10 sessions) Some will argue that you can even see the deterioration in performance after the first session (i.e. one practice or heat).
