The three shoes have been replaced by a machined plate approx 1 cm thick which has three precise cuts made in it. This is bolted to the backplate by three screws. There are no springs, pins or other moving parts inside the clutch drum
As the crankshaft rotates, the cuts allow the plate to expand and fill the gap with the sprocket drum. This locks the plate and drum togeather until the revs drop down again.
It appears to work, all reports so far dont appear to be able to tell any difference Although I am sure that people will already have tested back to back looking for any advantage.
The only parts which are still used from the old clutch are the sprocket, locating spigot and sprocket nut. Not sure about the backplate nut.
The new clutch comes with 2 metal gear wheels which replace the two plastic wheels. They must be changed you cannot mix.
The oil level is increased from 50 cc to 100 cc.
Time will tell.
