Thanks for your comments. Yes, you are right, I am having a 'fit of conscience', basically because I am not that sort of person. Personally, I would have been happier had he been told that he couldn't race with that spec kart in the first place, the situation would never have occurred then. I have no axe to grind with the driver concerned, (not a newbie, btw but an ex-Super 1 driver!!) and would of happily given him the Winner's trophy because he deserved it. I do feel however, that someone has to stand up to the fact that rules are not being enforced across the board and where does that leave us? If my lad had weighed in at 300g underweight, would he have been let off, after all what's 300g? As I said, the majority of drivers have spent lots of money making their karts up to regs, why should there be an exception? The one thing I haven't mentioned is, when I approached the driver before the practice and pointed out the fact that his bodywork was illegal, his answer was "it doesn't matter because I'm getting a new kart next month!" So that's alright then!
