You are still missing the main POINT, here!
Racing is NOT just a simple set of: 'I know the correct settings' concepts! If it was, then we would ALL be doing EXACTLY the same LAP TIMES! We AIN'T!
It's NOT some sort of secret society where you only need to know a few 'magic incantations'!Motor Racing is about TRIAL and ERROR! To START with, you'd be better off letting OTHERS rebuild your motors!
Taking simple things like the barrel/crankcase gasket.... it's NOT that one size is PERFECT for ALL motors! To choose the PERFECT gasket, you need to know how close the piston is to the head at top-dead-centre! If it's too far from the head, you fit a narrower gasket, if it's too NEAR, you fit a THICKER gasket. To know this you need to check with a bit of solder and a micrometer. Do you HAVE one of those, yet? You also need to know your head volume to make sure it's not too SMALL after you've changed the gasket. Do you have a burrette, yet?
These things come with time and experience. None of us are omway to go before you can do some of the more SUBTLE stuff for yourself!
