I used to put MY old two stroke in OUR lawnmower. The lawn mower's carb then failed. So I took it back to the guy from the Wheel Horse dealer from whom we bought it, brand new (Peter Hayward of VERY high karting pedigree: a 250 Gearbox GP winner, if I remember correctly).
He asked, 'have you been running karting fuel in this?.......because the jets are blocked solid with gummy Castrol R type oil"! Don't EVER use that stuff in a lawnmower or chainsaw! It'll kill it and it'll leave HUGE gummy deposits all round the cylinder, crank internals and ports (or valves if it's a 4 stroke) even if it DOESN'T b*gg*r the carb and I will NOT pay out on warrantee if you do!!! Karting 2/oil is manufactured for HIGH TEMPERATURE engines; you would NOT use a kart's spark plug in a lawn mower; so why do you expect it to work with the WRONG OIL?????'!!!!
Be Warned! Much chastened, I slunk away!
You MAY get away with running ex-karting fuel.....BUT.... it may cost you more in carb repairs, rebuilds than the cost of buying fresh fuel.... I now use PROPER lawn movwer grade 2/ oil and have not had a problem with the same lawn mower for 12 years!
.... and NO... I have NOT come back to the site as yet! I am taking a break for a bit!
Kind regards: Ian
PS... I FLEW over that damned kerb on Tuesday with Kai....
PPS.... why have you taken on MY role of being Mr Grumpy????!
