Jon & raceinstructor, thanks for the great advice, as you suspect I'm new to Rotax, 6 races in, but new (08) engine, so shouldn't be worn out.
Bogging down from cold has always been a problem. Air box not all covered in fuel, occasional bit, but not a lot.
I think most likely is mid range set-up, have never got airscrew quite right yet, and just discovered that the floats are not set to standard height, about 3.5mm & i've been telling jet-tech the standard 6mm - should've checked before but assumed new carb would be standard. I've been putting it leaner pin & jet than suggested to get plug right colour, but will adjust floats & start the set-up again. Think that's most likely now following your advice & my rotax blow job! Driver was making worse but not any more & still not great. Everything else you mention I think should be OK. maybe suspicous of 09 clutch picking up early but all looks like new - still tight. ( Maybe I should grease it LOL )
Will try to get carb re-set-up at Kimbolton next week & see how it goes. Keen to get it right though as it's his first race without Novice plates, so will be in middle of pack in heats for first time & that'll be enough pressure on it's own!!
