Hi,
My son has just started with a cadet kart that had a new clutch fitted when we bought it and has been used 4 times since (probably 6 hours in total).
Went to GYG at the weekend and he managed to burn the clutch. Took the drum off when we got home and the clutch lining has worn to under 1mm at the leading edge of each segment. The lining then increases in depth, so it's wedge shaped now, lining looks un-worn at the other end.
It seemed to be going very well even after he burnt the clutch until we had another unrelated problem.
Do I need to replace the clutch at this stage or is this type of wear typical. What happens if the leading edge wears down to nothing, will it simply mean he has to rev higher before clutch engages?
I don't want to get to another test day only to get a few laps out of it-cheers.
