Yesterday was a difficult day and the conditions were atrocious.
I thought that, considering the conditions, the vast majority of drivers coped very well, especially the cadets.
Would you rather we had cancelled the meeting and sent everyone home and have the loss of the entry fee?
I doubt that a lot of drivers had EVER driven in those conditions but we gave you three heats and a final.
I don't know what you expect from karting.
All those officials did all that ALL THAT without a lunch break to give you a days racing.
I haven't noticed anyone saying thank you to them for tramping around in two inches of water, wet through, hungry and cold, for NOTHING!!!!
Give them a break.
It's the same at any club you go to, it's racing, things get missed, decisions don't go your way, whatever.
The steward could have said 'that's it, the meeting's cancelled, but being a VERY experienced steward, he didn't, he carefully watched the driving and switched grid orders to make sure the meeting went ahead.
The staff of Motor Sport World worked their nuts off to get that monsoon down to a raceable level, they didn't have to but because Ricky Musk, the track owner, loves karting, he made sure they did it.
Sorry if you vote with your feet, I can't do anything about that because we are an MSA club and the offials from the MSA run the meeting, we club officials do the donkey work in the background and hopefully it all comes together on the day and things go reasonably right.
It's not easy and is like trying to fight a herd of crocodiles armed with just a feather duster.
I really cannot understand why officials continue to give up their time sometimes with the abuse and threats they receive.
If it was up to me, anyone who gives abuse to someone on a race day should have a lifetime ban from all motorsport, you're just lucky the MSA are weak in that respect.
SO:
A big THANK YOU to all the drivers and their entourages who turned out yesterday and raced sensibly, especially the plucky cadets, BUT:
An even bigger THAN YOU to the officials and staff who made it possible.
I really enjoyed watching it.
