I bought a DD and found it a right pain to start, with an easy start wheel fitted it would take 3 attempts (in most cases) running at full pelt for it to start up. Since buying a clutched, I have witnessed others with DD that can get their engine turning over at walking pace. I figure we must of had some dodgy setting or perhaps the engine itself was the problem. We even resorted to starting it with a belt (not recommended for safety reasons) such was our lack of confidence. Since we fitted the clutch and apart from one time when the kart stalled under braking, I have managed to get so much more time thinking about where I can improve in my driving and not worrying whether the bloody thing will start before next time out.
