Thanks for the clarification as regards the head fins: and yes, I can see the plug is central in the head.
But the point I'm trying to make, is that reversing the head results in altering the position of the earth electrode of the plug (for any give plug) relative to the porting and gas flow through the engine.
As I said, some think this to be important due to the resulting flame spread influenced by the position of the earth electrode of the plug.
Not wanting to overtighten the plug, or modify the head to get the electrode into a favourable position, some may resort to reversing the cylinder head: is this why both used engines I've bought recently have carb return spring holes drilled on both inlet & exhaust sides of the head?
Just asking the quesion.
