1) You got the fuel mix wrong, whether you think so or not! I have see people SWEAR they got the fuel mix right when there was ZERO oil in the fuel.... as the two people thought the OTHER one had mixed it!
2) Too little fuel set at the carb, e.g., setting the high speed too lean. This can occur when weather conditions change and you fail to react to that.
3) Minor blockage in the carb preventing fuel from arriving correctly
4) Faulty fuel pump not delivering enough fuel at full speed.
5) Air leak at ANY point in the system, particularly around gaskets and/or the oil seals
6) Using old fuel/mix where the detergents in the fuel had broken down the oil.
7) Running too low on fuel in the tank so, on high-speed-full-power-corners, the fuel 'leans' was away from the inlet (happens a lot with bottom-feed tanks, not so much with 'dangly tube' (clunk) tanks!)
8) Repeated sudden, almost instantaneous over-reving.... e.g., running the kart on stand, jumping over kerbs, over-revving when exiting a wet corner or up the straight.
9) ingress small amount of 'grit' via carb
10) Engine left uncleaned (internally) after using it in a wet practice/race the last time it was used. The water causes corrosion to the bearings.
That's at least 10 possible before we get anywhere NEAR a problem with the rebuild or supplies.... and I could least a dozen more...
....and we haven't even got onto the concept of 'lousy luck'
