My advice would be, dont do it without heating it up. I've been told to do this many times with different karts over the years (all of them brand new). and they have all cracked very quickly. I bought a brand new storm and did it very carefully and gently and low and behold, it cracked on the weld as did all the previous karts I did it to. Its not a reflection on build quality, just the fact that you are putting a lot of strain on a fairly brital area. The thing that annoys me is that I'm not even big, I'm a meduium small seat, so why dont manufacturers make them to fit the 'Average sized' person (as I would class myself). Even better, why not build them to fit specific seats i.e. different spacing in the seat stays for different driver sizes - It would be fairly easy to do.
I'd be interested if anyone has any input on this topic as I'm fed up with ruining new karts!
