For precision, the correct reply is 'get off your ba and do your sa......'..... work it out for yourself!
Oh no..... even WITH Three Steps.... the item itself IS a 'Podium'.... whereas, more than one SET of 'steps' WOULD be: 'Podia'!
Tsk tsk...

OK. Alan... you know, my 'challenge'.....
1) Tell us EXACTLY what Magnesium rims DO for performance 2) Tell us HOW they do it.... 3) If you claim that it IS the 'heating cycle' (which most people THINK it is), exactly WHAT part of the cycle gives the benefit? 4) then tell us how you can possibly KNOW it's not that the Mag rims are: a) made THICKER which decreases the 'air volume' b) made thicker which may well stiffen the wheel against 'flex' and..... c) because the wheels are of a stiffer material, that it's the different stiffnesses of Mag when compared to AliAlloy.....
Of all peoiple.... you DO know about metals and heat-effects of the metals.. You also don't suffer from 'Hype' a great deal.... I've seen how neither of us is exactly a 'follower of fashion'...... Of ALL people, you SHOULD be able to answer those questions.... it'll be interesting to see how many DIS-agree with your reasons!
Finally, in the 'great scheme of things' what a SHOULD a new-driver buy and use..? where would you put the use of Mags in that list?..... Is it MORE important than new tyres or a decent carb.... more 'bum-in-seat' times or a setting axle-widths, ride heights, tracking, camber, caster, brakes, electronics, carburation, tyre pressures, air-vs-nitrogen, trail-braking, weight-distribution, helmet-aero-ducts, new-smart-suit, spare engines, decent tools, setting the CLUTCH correctly...... etc.?????
My point is that the MAG in your mag wheels MIGHT give you 10ths of a second (but I doubt it....!) but is NOT likely to do so if you can't see WHY it does it and thus WHY you should use Mags on the First Sunday in the Month but AliAlloys in the 4th Sunday.....
I think the simpler way of saying this is that Mag-Wheels are giving Simon too much information to 'process' at THIS stage of his career!
