Simon....... you just have to TRUST me....
I have NO axe to grind.... I do NOT sell karts.... I do NOT have to self-justify WHY I spent XYZ pounds buying 'fairy dust wheels'.
Simply STOP WORRYING about the SMALL details! You have VASTLY more EFFECTIVE changes to make BEFORE you need to worry about the BL**DY wheels!
What I'd REALLY like to see (or create) is a chart, ranking the 'changes' (tweaks) with the COST and experience needed to FEEL those changes in your lap times. For your first 3 months (at LEAST), the BIGGEST change will be in YOU and your DRIVING...... the rest is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.... you are NOT quick enough YET to make use of 95% of the 'tweaks'.....
Get in and DRIVE the thing.... worry about 'tweaks' when you can put in 10 laps within HALF A SECOND of each other at RACE lap-times-plus-2-seconds.... that's quite a way off, yet!
Oh.... and another thing about Mag wheels.... they BREAK MUCH more easily.... and are more expensive to replace.....
Personally, I'd tell you to stay WELL clear of Mags for a while!
But... that's just MY opinion!
