hey alex
where abouts are you based??? 2-2.5k is about right for kart, engines, trailer, tools etc.
i reckon my racing budget is about 2500 a year, that includes race entry tyres, engine rebuilds etc...a good breakdown per meeting is
practice day - 40 race day - 50 tyres - 40 (new set every 3 meetings) engine rebuild - 50 (200 spread over 4 meetings) consumables - 20 damage/other - 50
in terms of how much your gear will cost...its endless, like i said above, a sensible start up cost is 2-2.5k, usually 1-1,5k spent on the kart, 500-1k spent on a trailer, 200-300 spent on racewear and 200 spent on tools.
the best place to look is on the classifieds section of this site...you can pick up some retirement packages for a good price that includes everything you need.
in terms of the chassis, they have to be msa legal....anything that is racing aat the moment is ok...basically the new rules allow cik karts to race in tkm as well as tkm chassis....you just have to remove the torsion bars and caster/camber adjustment...its a 10 minute job
i may be selling up at the end of this year....not decided yet but if you want more info email me at aquilamotorsport'at'hotmail.co.uk
