Having recently tested gearing to rev a Jnr Max to 14K or 12.5K we found little change in the lap times nor for that matter top speed for either. As the power curve of a max drops significantly beyond 12.5K there is little point in seeking the extra revs, however the layout of the circuit will have a greater influence on your choice as it may well be that your lap times will improve on a generally twisty circuit with 1 longish straight by gearing for some extra revs and running a slightly larger main jet. but with a more flowing circuit it is likely you can produce a better lap time with the shorter gear ratio. In both cases your aim should be to get the maximum possible proportion of your lap with the engine at or approacing it's maximum power power output. i.e. 12.5K ish!
