Thanks for the info Richy. But does that mean that all goods must last 6 months ? That could mean it can have very little use (say 6 weekends racing) or it could be used every weekend if you're testing aswell as racing.
I must admit to being a bit "bi-polar" on this one. Surely, as it's a race chassis it is designed to be fast which it undoubtably is so in that respect it is fit for purpose and as the racing-line is not over curbs (and I don't want to open up that debate again) then it shouldn't get too much shock loading. Also it's designed as a three bearing chassis so should it not be used as such ?
How can we say there is a design flaw - maybe it's just the way it's used ?? Admittedly some have cracked but have they all ???
On an engineering note - maybe we are asking a lot for a fabricated (especially mig-welded) frame that is designed to flex (enormously if you've ever followed one through corners) to last even 6 months. I certainly check all the welds on our chassis every time I load it into the van after every race meeting and Tig weld every crack that is visble - some as small as 2-3 mm long - and even areas that I think a crack may start (ie a stress raiser).
