As stated before there are so many variables to your question, its hard to say whats best.
No matter where you go and which team etc you talk to, their chassis will be the best and the others will all be rubbish.
My own opinion in max is that there is very little difference between the chassis, once you get them set up properly and that is the hard bit, getting a good set up that works for you.
I have had OTK chassis and I have had a Wright chassis, they have all performed well for me. Our championship winner used an Arrow, others BRM and OTK, so no clear pattern.
When I changed from OTK, I looked at the cost of spares and availability on the day at our circuit. I also looked at ease of getting the chassis repaired if it got bent. All things to consider.
You also read on here that some of the new chassis lose their stiffness after 3 or 4 races. So do you risk buying a relatively new chassis from a team, knowing that it could be because its had a hard life and they are getting rid of it. Worse still if its a year old and you are about to become the third or 4th owner. Has it had a really hard life.
My own thought for Max would be to try and get the best engine package you can, whilst avoiding an 08 barrel, as they appear to have the most potential to be less competitive. A recent rebuild is obviously the best, but it could also be that a cheaper sealed engine which has done a lot of hours is good value as long as there is enough saving in the cost of the engine to get a good rebuild done just before you start racing.
As for Chassis, as long as it has good quality hubs, seat, mychron etc, it wont really matter what make it is as long as its not cracked, its straight and the tubes are not too flattened from kerbs etc.
I would also try and get a test drive at the owners circuit and let him show you that its competitive with other max engined karts. If he is getting left behind on the straights and out of corners then you have to ask is it him or the package.
The big thing is make sure you are happy, dont jump into something just because you have the money.
