hi guys not been on for a while, was about to get into tkm when i had a few issues take over my life! any way im looking at getting into karting and only ever had experience of owning a parilla 100cc push start kart which i just took on carparks but the idea was to race it at 3s untill i found out it wasnt a kart worth racing and just an old piece of crap! ive been to 3s a few times watching and really enjoyed it and feel that tkm extreme could be for me as i like the idea of being able to rebuild your engine yourself as im a mechanic and its not sealed. plus ive not got a great deal of money and only want to do it to enjoy the racing at first as im sure i wouldnt be up there if i had a quick kart or not! ive got a few questions though if somone would be kind enough to answer? 1. whats the grids like at 3s and hooton park for tkm senior? 2.whats the average age of the senior grid, just wondering as im 29 and thinking am i too old! 3.would i need a mate to help me out in the pits etc or would i be able to do it all myself if i got into it? 4.ive been looking at a few kart setups and was wondering could somone explain all about hollow, solid axles and 30mm,50mm whats the advantages etc? 5.what sort of money would i be looking at to start out with kart, suit, helmet, spares etc,ive already got a van and tools not a prob being a mechanic, not being competative as i just wanna learn how to drive, set up etc and enjoy it before i try and take the rest of the grid on!, i'm thinking of going hooton mainly because i dont need an arks to practice there, then when im ready i'll do arks test.
sorry this goes on but ive got so much questions i wanna ask and im constantly reading through the archives to try and learn more!
