I have been invloved with Karting now for 6 years, starting with my Son in cadets aged 8, after 4 years racing at various clubs I could see that clubs needed more active members and became involved with the Committee at SYKC and over the last 3 years have become heavily involved.
My experience in this time is that members do not unerstand what the clubs there for and to be honest for the majority they don't want to know either they just want to use the club to race.
The clubs are there to represent the members, who are all drivers, and are mandated to try to improve the sport. In my opinion when issues are raised to the clubs in a timely manner they can and do deal with it.
The problem is that people don't raise issues with the club and on lots of occasions they raise an issue when its too late to deal with it.
My opinion is that those people who are passionate and vocal about the sport would be best served by becoming more involved in the clubs and using them for what their there for.
Its always easier to change things from within an organisation than it is by trying to undermine the regime and compete with it.
