Hi
We spent ages deciding what to move to after prokarting but decided in the end to go into long circuit superkarts.
We felt that this was the pinacle of racing - as close to F1 (without the cost!!!) as you can get.
We chose F125 (125cc open Long circuit class) as this was the best combination of cost, robustness & excitement.
We have just bought our first very good 2nd hand kart for less than the cost of a good pro kart.
It's a 120mph / 0-60 in 3.5 second awesome kart. We will be racing at Silverstone, Donnington, Darley, Oulton, Mallory, Cadwell Park etc - it doesn't get much better than that!
BAsically you can get a decent kart and the spares you need for around 2,000.
The racing is more professional with hardly any contact - more about skill and setup.
If you want more info go to the British Superkart Association web page.
Good Luck
