Depends, if you can afford the best there�s one that�s leagues ahead of all the rest; regardless of whether 2-stroke or 4-stroke � you won�t care about any of that anymore. Test drive one and all doubt will vanish. It�s the one that does it all in karting.
Test drive all the others first, then you�ll know for sure.

Ditto on the race option.

Otherwise get a Rotax; it�s the only way to play it reasonably safe in this soft, contracting market.
