Its the same as anything else. The MSA can't / won't do anything about it because they'd probably lose a hell of a lot in backhanders!!
Take the Dunlop tyre situation. Every year there ends up a shortage of tyres, particularly in gearbox. Strange considering the importer of Dunlop kart tyres is a Superkart builder. Now if you needed parts and couldn't get hold of them, you'd go somewhere else, but if dealers can't get hold of the tyres required because the importer isn't ordering them, what can you do?! But despite this being an issue over years, still using them!
The MSA seems destined to go down the same route as the FFSA, where karting for the regular person is virtually confined to arrive and drives. As mentioned, we're in a recession, yet they're still bringing more and more regulations costing the drivers more and more money (mainly seems to be aimed at Juniors (CMR helmets, PG licences, Super Cadet etc).
Good luck everyone, and if you want some advise, go Non-MSA.
