I think in the 80's / 90's the early years of karting, it had two streams. The beer and bbq gang that enjoyed tkm etc and enjoyed cheaper racing. And the second stream that wanted to race in F1 and went on to race in Formula A etc.

However now the UK karting association has tried to make everybody the second stream and pay Formula A (Rotax) prices. Back the the 80's / 90's hardly anybody had smart cars, fancy lorries, large tents etc. Now every super one team has Range Rover sports, Fancy motor homes, Olympic tents etc - can see why the prices have shot up!!

Hopefully the current stream of JTKM will soon be senior TKM and things will be back to normal!! I think avoid the rich side of karting and suport the poorer side. Then karting will hopefully swing back to normal again.
