Decision time
You have already decided that the free software is not doing the job, so you want a better method to get it right.
your choices are
Notebook and pencil (PaulM-Rotax)
where you record all the various paramenters which you can then refer back to. Maybe you need two books, one for your testing with all results and then one to record the final results from that test session. That way you would not have to search through so much rubbish to find what had worked best on that day.
Electronic notebook (John)
where you record all the various paramenters by locking them into the settings of the software. You dont need two books anymore because you adjust the settings until you get the software tuned to your engine. Now you dont have to search through so much rubbish to find what had worked best on the day when the conditions were similar.
Either method will work for you eventually, its just how much time and money you want to spend.
I hope you will come back here and tell us which method you finally went for and why and how long it took you to get the optimum results from the method you decided on.
